Testing for Down Syndrome in Pregnancy

Prenatal screening for Down Syndrome, Trisomy 18, and Trisomy 13 in pregnancy is offered to all patients. Today’s testing is significantly improved from previous tests. A blood test in the mother is able to detect Cell Free DNA of the fetus as early as 10 weeks gestation. Not only is the patient able to have this information earlier in the pregnancy, but the results are much more accurate.
